My name is Michael H. Pryor and I put this site together (with the help from lots of contributors). I'm one of the co-founders of Fog Creek Software. The other co-founder, my friend and business partner Joel Spolsky, writes articles on software, business, finance, rubber duckies, naked chefs, and other odd topics.
I grew up on the east coast and went to school at Dartmouth College where I studied Computer Science. After graduating in 1998 I moved to New York City. I was trying to decide between jobs at Juno Online, Oracle, and an investment firm called Bridgewater Associates. Upon Joel's urging that Larry Ellison is mean and I would hate living in Connecticut (where Bridgewater is), I took the job at Juno.
Here's what the stock looked like at those three companies to present day
Proving that Joel is horrible at picking stocks. (The chart for Bridgewater is an approximation but pretty accurate.)
Thankfully not long after that giant nosedive at Juno, Joel and I started our own software company and struggled for a year before making it one of the best places to work ever. The beer pong table and the DJ equipment don't hurt, but there's a lot more going on behind the scenes. We've been in business for 6 years now and I can't wait for the next 6.
